Pull Your Shit Together!

Update:
I am going to medically withdraw from this semester and I just told my parents last week.

My Plan:
Get out of the funk, spend my day doing something productive and/or lucrative, get my shit together.

Today:
Woke up, made cookies, watched Carolina - Romantic Comedy my ass!

Next I will...
Get  ready, etc. Buy tights for the big night and search out some trinkets for our new addition. (purposefully cryptic)

And so on and so forth, et cetera, et cetera...

Titanic

Today was very, very epic. It started with my sister-in-law, brother, and Jarrel spontaneously visiting me! It was the nicest surprise of my life. If someone gave me a puppy, that might beat it, but other than that no dice. They came in just to see me for less than two hours to have lunch. I have the sweetest, most considerate siblings in the world. I love them. We went to a locally owned mexican restaurant, and then Ashley and I went off to a shoe store, while Ryan and Jarrel settled for getting a hair cut. They crack me up. What's so boring about shoes anyway? I got a new pair of flats... Ashley got three. See? She's simply fabulous!
Guess what I did next? If you know me you will never guess. I went on a date!!! It was a first date, and was really nice. We talked and got to know each other. I was so nervous at first because I'd never actually met him before, so I guess it was partially blind? On top of that he's older than me, so I was worried he'd think I was immature or something. I think he only thought that twice — once when he made a reference I'd never heard of (which surprised me because I'm the one in my group who does that) and he had to explain it. I felt bad for pointing out that I didn't know what he was talking about, then he wouldn't have said anything about the age difference. Then the second time was when he was asking me on a second date (!!!) and he was saying we could stop by a bar after dinner. I must have made a face, because his eyes instantly widened and he put his hand over his mouth and said, "Oh... fuck." Then I felt really lame, like I was holding him back from a good time or limiting our options. Other than those two times the date was perfect.  Then when I got home, I realized I hadn't been returning all the questions he'd been asking nor the compliments he'd been giving out like candy. Damn! So next time I'm going to be learning more about him, and commenting on how very handsome he is. Like... wow. Yes, he's that good-looking. I'm so excited!
Then I watched Titanic for the first time all the way through. I regret that decision. It's such a tear jerker — especially when it clicked that she died in the end. I mean goodness!

My day was fabulous — thank you to all those who made it such.

WoW... He had a CoW.

Preface: Professor Mullen hates students on electronic devices during class.
...
It was a chilly day at the University of Oklahoma, and I was sitting near the back of my Physics class, as I always do because 310 students induce claustrophobia. On the front row sat a young man, disheveled, wearing muted clothing... basically a teenage boy who rolled out of bed. He was typing something on his Dell laptop, a small-ish one, nothing fancy, but as I've recently discovered, could have cost him no less than $900.
Enter Professor Mullen.
"Are you on your laptop???" He looks over the back of the monitor to peruse the screen. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. Don't bring your laptop to class!" Slams the lid down on the laptop and confiscates it, setting it on his desk. "I warned you...." Exit the caustic professor out a side door, only to return with a hefty hammer. Mullen approaches the captured laptop with clear malice and raises his fisted hammer... only to set it down. "No... that won't impress any of you." Exit the slightly crazed professor out the same side door. We wait in anticipation, laughing nervously, expecting another scary-but-not-funny joke.
Enter Mullen carrying a styrofoam bin, canister of liquid nitrogen and work gloves. The class laughs outright... what is he planning to do?... he can't do anything or he'll be sued... we're not paying good tuition money for a lawyer! The professor places the laptop in the styrofoam, pouring the liquid nitrogen over it, sending dry-ice fumes drifting over the desk. He stops, watches, then picks up the laptop and flips it... as if cooking an omelet. "Have to be sure to get both sides."
The class is now sitting on the edges of their seats... "Well that can't do anything to it... everyone knows that... it'll just freeze the battery, but it'll be fine once it thaws out..." murmurs circulate the classroom.
The now somber and slightly peeved professor retrieves the laptop, "Well, this won't do anything, it's just liquid nitrogen. However  this will."

He slams the laptop to the tile floor, shattering the computer into small bits.

"DON'T BRING YOUR COMPUTERS TO CLASS!!!"

The young man leaves class. Moral of the story is... never sit in the front row.

Back to School

Right now I'm sitting in my sorority room again. Spring semester 2010... so it begins.

At the moment I'm homesick like nobody's business. For the past two weeks I've been spending days with my dad at our house, and nights with both parents. I took care of my officer duties and read and baked, while my dad set up his home office and made contacts and fooled around with his little projects. By day we'd watch The Bernie Mac Show, by night NCIS.

I miss my family.
